Lorain City Schools chose a bold and energetic new logo as the foundation of a new branding campaign.
Client Story
For a school district that faces enrollment and funding challenges, Sooy+Co created a new brand that inspires and rallies supporters, students and the community.
This new brand for Lorain City Schools features three silhouettes of hands reaching for the globe (symbolic of the world of the 21st century), through a field of gold (symbolizing a new beginning).
The hands assert "We can. We will." – strong new positioning stated by the Superintendent, Dr. Cheryl Atkinson. This new day represents the new vision for Lorain City Schools: constantly renewed, continually greeting new opportunities in a global community and economy, preparing its students to be world citizens.
The core colors symbolize:
- New Beginnings (Gold)
- Unlimited Growth (Green)
- Unlimited potential (Blue)
- We can. We Will. (Red): the color of courage, courage to take the steps necessary to achieve the school system's goals.
The hands are raised as if to answer the questions "Who can? WE CAN!" and "Who will? WE WILL!"
Together, the vibrancy of the color palette is a reminder of the diversity represented by Lorain City Schools, representing how each group is distinct yet complementary.
The outcome: Lorain City Schools has embraced its new visual brand enthusiastically, integrating it into clothing, its web site and other communications materials, such as the Magnet School Program materials developed by Sooy+Co.
