Open Door Christian Schools

Open Door Christian Schools' mascot and image have been transformed through re-branding: a new mascot, updated publications and a completely new web presence contribute to increased enrollment and greater awareness in northern Ohio.

Open Door Christian Schools is the largest private Christian school in the area from north central Ohio to Toledo, offering preschool and kindergarten through 12th grade classes.

Client Story

privaete school brandingThrough our Clarity Process, Sooy+Co identified the strategies and context necessary for differentiating the private K-12 college prep school.  By positioning the school as the leading alternative in Christian education, it helps market the school to prospective families, and focuses the messaging in the communications tools that parents and students would use regularly.

The school also had various versions of the Patriot mascots representing the school's band, athletics and other high-profile activities.  Using student models, a new mascot was introduced, with strong symbolism representing the Christian aspects of the school's guiding principles. Standards were developed to govern the use of the new visual brand in all program areas, from academics to athletics.

ODCS's existing web site did not create the perception of a leading private college preparatory school.  The site required all content maintenance to be coordinated through one individual, creating slow and ineffective communication bottlenecks.  A key consideration was enabling the faculty to maintain their own online lesson plans, which was easily accomplished through client-managed user roles.

Now editable from a standard web browser, ODCS staff and faculty contribute to the content regularly, as well as enjoy the ability to update and publish critical information that all students long to see: snow days and school cancellations.

The web site, in addition to new branding, now positions ODCS as the leading alternative in Christian education in north central Ohio.
