The Cleveland and George Gund foundations release Cleveland Schools that are Making a Difference, which highlights 13 urban schools recognized by independent researchers for inspired leadership, thoughtful curriculum, innovative instructional practices and well-cultivated community and parental involvement.
Client Story
The goal of the project was to
identify, describe and share best practices that exist within
Cleveland’s traditional public, private, parochial and charter schools
that make a positive difference in students’ achievement. The Cleveland Foundation partnered with Sooy+Co. to chronicle the findings and design the final reports.
The project evolved from the foundations’ strategy to help create new and excellent schools in Cleveland.
SooyCo recommended that two reports be created: a full-color executive summary, and a full report that included all of the findings, to be distributed solely as a PDF. This unexpected solution saved resources as well as created a permanent digital record of the report, in a style that matched the executive summary.
Each school's story was told by students and key administrators, and explained what made each schools successful.
The schools were elated to receive framed, large-scale prints of the spread from the executive report, to commemorate their success and to be proudly displayed in their school.
